A complex of three shrines (Hetsunomiya, Nakatsunomiya, Okutsunomiya) located on the scenic island of Enoshima. One of Japan's Three Great Benzaiten Shrines.
神社歷史緣起
Established in 552 AD in the seaside caves (Iwaya). It became a major pilgrimage site in the Edo period. The naked Benzaiten statue housed here is famous (and rarely shown).

The entire island is the shrine grounds. You can hike or take escalators ('Enoshima Escar') to visit the three shrines. The view of Mt. Fuji from the island is spectacular.

The Enoshima Tenno Festival in July features portable shrines being carried into the sea.
