The head shrine of Mount Hakusan worship, one of Japan's three sacred mountains. This ancient shrine is dedicated to the goddess Shirayama Hime and is known for blessings of matchmaking and safe journeys.

Shirayama Hime Shrine is the headquarters of Hakusan shrines across Japan, numbering over 3,000. Mount Hakusan (2,702m) has been considered a sacred mountain since ancient times. The shrine was established in 717 AD by the monk Taicho, who opened up pilgrimages to the summit.
The worship of the mountain combines elements of Shinto nature reverence and Shugendo mountain asceticism. The shrine has been a center of spiritual life for the Hokuriku region for over 1,300 years.

The shrine is located at the foot of Mt. Hakusan, surrounded by pristine nature. The main hall and several secondary shrines are set within a grove of ancient trees, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere.
A unique feature is the 'Omokaru Ishi' (heavy-light stone). Worshippers make a wish, lift the stone, and if it feels lighter than expected, the wish will come true.
重大祭典
The 'Hakusan-sai' in early summer marks the opening of the mountain climbing season. The shrine also holds rituals at the summit shrine on Mt. Hakusan during the summer months.
