Preservation of Knowledge

This unique shrine resembles a vast, ancient library. Its hallowed halls are lined with countless scrolls and books, each containing a story in danger of being lost.

神社歷史緣起

Founded by a wandering scholar who believed that words have souls (kotodama). He dedicated this shrine to the preservation of human experience, believing that every story told is a spirit that deserves a home.

境內看點

The walls are lined from floor to ceiling with ancient texts. Visitors sit in quiet alcoves and 'listen' to the spirit of the stories. The central object of worship is 'The First Story', an unreadable scroll of immense age.

重大祭典

The 'Airing of the Scrolls' is a ritual where the ancient texts are carefully brought into the sun. It is a time for scholars and writers to gather and share their own work.
